TV Confusion

I am looking for a new TV and find myself in a state of confusion regarding the different products, hence I am turning to you, fellow OCUKers for advice.

I would like to buy a middle-of-the-road Samsung 65" TV. The reason for it being Samsung is that I'd also like to buy their HW 650 soundbar and wireless subwoofer for a total discount of £400 through the cashback scheme Samsung is currently running. £600 for these two products is pretty good, all things considered.

On the richersounds website, there are numerous Samsung TVs, all escalating in price and claiming large reductions from the RRP. I have no idea what will suit me best. My wife and I are not power-watchers of TV - it's always on, though it's used for serious things like films much less frequently. I just want a TV that has reasonable blacks and doesn't blur excessively with on screen movement. I don't think I want 1000 nits brightness necessarily, but I have no idea about edge lighting, panel bit rates or anything else. Do I need 100hz on a TV? I really don't know. If anyone could explain the features I should be looking out for, I would be most grateful.

I'm aware OLED is where it's at, but I do want a 65" TV owing to the distance I sit away from the set. I know about the advantages of OLED and see them every day on my S8+ phone, I simply can't afford a 65" OLED TV.

Actually, £600 for both would be bloody amazing TBH. I think you might want to have another look at the terms and conditions of the package deal and the price of the TV.

The entry-level 65" Samsung will cost you £1149 after the RS discount of £600 from RRP* The HWMS650 soundbar is £499 before the cashback redemption offer. £1149 + £499 = £1648

There's a £200 redemption i.e. you send your details and proof of purchase to Samsung and they somehow refund you £200, which brings the nett price down to £1448. That's a long way off the £600 it looks like you're expecting. Is it just the way your OP is worded, or are you really expecting to get a 65" UHD TV and a soundbar for £600?

* I thought RRPs were long abolished, so where that's from I have no idea.

It's 600 for the soundbar and wireless sub (200 cashback on each) PLUS the price of the TV. The cheapest 65" Samsung TV on richer sounds is £950, climbing rapidly upwards.

Maybe the wording wasn't perfect.

If that's the soundbar you want and you're interested in rear speakers too, this offer may be of interest:

I returned the TV for a refund so the soundbar and rear speakers cost me £300.

It was only the soundbar and wireless sub I was interested in really, though I suppose I'd get the rear speakers as well this way (anything with spring clips isn't worth £250 imo).

Did you just buy the 99 quid TV and did they bat an eye when you took it back?

I also did this.

You will get more than enough Bass from the Soundbar. The wireless rear speakers are also excellent.

Get the deal if it is still available.

As for a TV, i've got a KS7000 and the 2 work together flawlessly.

The ONLY issue I have experienced is the sound dropping in Netflix - not sure what's causing it as all other apps (prime etc.) work fine.
