The Panny 42PZ80's died. 
Might be repairable, but probably isn't worth repairing really.
Not even looked at TV's in the last couple of years really, so have no idea what's it's worth replacing with.
Specs the other half has given me:
42"
We like plasma, but if there's a LED/LCD that's better, we're not that fussy.
No Sony.
We do like Panasonic.
Not at all bothered by 3d. I don't like it overly and it makes the other half vom.
I REALLY like the ability to switch off overscan on the set. Was very easy on the old panasonic. Was a single menu option.
Just from a quick hunt around, the 42ST50 seems pretty universally liked.
Any other suggestions?
