The Panny 42PZ80's died. :(

Might be repairable, but probably isn't worth repairing really.

Not even looked at TV's in the last couple of years really, so have no idea what's it's worth replacing with.

Specs the other half has given me:

42"
We like plasma, but if there's a LED/LCD that's better, we're not that fussy.
No Sony.
We do like Panasonic.
Not at all bothered by 3d. I don't like it overly and it makes the other half vom.
I REALLY like the ability to switch off overscan on the set. Was very easy on the old panasonic. Was a single menu option. :D

Just from a quick hunt around, the 42ST50 seems pretty universally liked.

Any other suggestions?

The 42st50 is a great tv tbh, got some really good reviews for its black levels to.

Im hopefully going to get the 50st50 as an upgrade from my 42g10

I think my parents have a pz80, if it is i have a gt30 and think it is much better, it looks more 3d (im talking 2d picture) it does an especially good job on SD imo

Of course they are in different enviromnments

what happened out of interest? I have a 46PZ85.

when did you buy it?

Was working fine on friday.
Came home on sunday. Hit the power button. Flashes green as normal, then just does 2 red flashes and then repeats that. Screen never powers up.

Apparently it's the power board that has failed. But googling to try and find out what the red flashes actually mean is pretty close to useless.

We've had it for 3.5 nearly 4 years I think.

Some of those Pannys had 5 year warrantys depending when you bought them.
I'd follow that up before deciding on a new one :)

We had 3 years, not 5. Didn't get it from John Lewis or anywhere that was offering the 5 years. But we saved a significant amount of money as we got it through a friend. ;)

i can ask tomorrow at work what the it means exactly, we have the pananet site to look it up.

If you do find out, it'd be damn useful thanks. I really do think we're going to replace it.

Having to cope with a 26" screen in the lounge at the moment  How did anyone cope with 14" crt's?
