Hi Peeps

My eldest daughter is 10 years old and is likely to need surgery on each foot in the next few months. Not life threatening or life changing just inconvenient. As a consequence she is required to be off her feet for 2 x 2 week periods and not very mobile for a good deal longer.

So as a treat I'm considering a giving her a TV for her bedroom. We have Sky Q but no multi box. We have wi-fi but no aerial socket in her bedroom. We have subscriptions with Prime, Disney+ and Netflix if we keep them all. I'd like to get her a TV but plainly parental controls would be helpful. I haven't bought a TV in years so I'd welcome any advice if people have experience of similar requirements.

Cheers

We bought this for our 10 year old - LG 32LQ63006LA 32" Smart Full HD HDR LED TV. (Not sure if I can link the shop)
Was around £200 when we got it last year. Had no expectations, but thought it would be good enough.
To be fair, its been worth every penny. Picture is decent, sound is ok. We did not bother connecting an aerial.
She watches Prime, Disney+ and Netflix all via the apps on the TV.

(Be aware, there is a cheaper "HD Ready" version of the same TV)

depending on skills, get a tv on a guest wifi network with something like adguard to control what they can see

then its just streaming services which you can keep an eye on? ps educate rather than restrict or they will find a way :o

Surely this is the perfect time to upgrade your lounge TV to the TV of your dreams. Get that 100" oled you've been eyeing and give your daughter your old one. Win win

yup simply move his TV to the childs room and buy this for main room

While on holiday the caravan we stayed in had a TCL Roku TV.

It was wonderfully easy to navigate, picture quality was decent enough for what it is and the sound was ok.

Being Roku based it has access to all the apps. Some cheaper TVs have different operating systems to their elite brethren and this usually means that they do not have access to all the apps that one might expect.

My 6 year old managed to work it ok with no help from me so must be pretty simple to use

Not sure if I'm allowed to point you this direction so I'll be poised to have this post amended/ deleted but Currys currently have these TV's on offer, 32" for £139 or 43" for £229, or 40" for £199
