TV For Children

My two (lucky) children are going to get a TV each for Christmas, to go in their bedrooms. I'm looking for full-HD, ideally sub-£250 each and with a screen size from 32" to 42". One of those TVs also needs to act as a computer monitor, so I may stretch to an additional £100 in order to get one that's suitable for the task. The two TVs therefore don't need to be exactly the same type.

Is there anything out there to suit these basic requirements that isn't absolute tat? My children are only young, so they won't be criticizing panel uniformity or black levels, but it would be nice to have a TV from a decent brand if possible.

Any recommendations folks?

Got my mum a non smart Panasonic 42" on Amazon Prime day, I could have got the smart version for a few £ more but the stand would not sit where it need to on her furniture and she would not use the smart side and it would only confuse her.

I would look for Black Friday deals on Amazon and nearly any TV will have a PC input (even if HDMI, there will be PC/Computer Setting in video menu for less lag etc).

I bought 2 of my kids Toshiba TVs a couple of years ago - aside from the remotes being a bit poor quality, they have been faultless.

The various Apps (especially as the Kids watch Youtube) being regularly updated, they continue to receive software updates, and despite Toshiba being more of a "marketing" name rather than any sign of the manufacturer these days, they are a step above the "own brand" TV's we've had before.

Cheers guys. The smart TV aspect will be covered by Sky Mini boxes (£30 each in the recent sale) so it's not too important for the TVs to have it built-in. I read a comment in another thread on this forum which disparagingly said many brands were turfed out of a factory in Turkey. I know I'm at the factory in Turkey end of the market, but is there any real quality difference, mostly in terms of longevity? Is a 32" Samsung or LG going to last longer than a 40" of another brand at the same retail price?

I know Samsung were known die just out of warranty a while back and I have had two 2013 LG's die on my mum just out of warranty, both repaired by myself using new Boards bought on EBAY.

Two bought new TV's (bought 3 months apart apart) at about 13-15 months old both have had new PSU Boards and one has had a new Control Board and other has one dead HDMI on the Control Board but other HDMI port on side was then used.

The dead HDMI port TV then died later due to the back lit LED strip dying, (picture is there but too dark to see without a torch) and friends LG's 2017-2018 either faulty from new or stop working in some way or another soon after buying also and going by what I seen inside them no wonder.

After a few swaps outs each and free upgrades to better models ,which also were faulty out they all got full refunds.

BTW they are both surge protected as we did have lightning strike that killed the Virgin Box (and other in the area) along its coax (hit green cab outside I assume) not the 13amp mains supply as also protected.

At this price point, I'd have to recommend the HiSense B7100UK. 43" is currently £249 at an online retailer with two vowels in it's URL, or if you've got the space, grab the 50" version for fifty squid more and a 6 year warranty from Julian Richer's shop.

I would read the customer feedback for that brand/model on that model (all sizes) on Amazon as I just did and not very good.

You can get a better brand for about the same.

ao.com and richer sounds.

No need for the disguising - they aren't primarily a pc retailer and we aren't discussing pc parts.
