hey guys,

at the moment, the PS3 i'm getting is going to be used on the 26" samsung telly downstairs, its a decent tv and has done us well for the last 2.5 years, however, i'm considering getting something for upstairs...

at the moment in our second bedroom i've got an old 21" sony on which i play my PS2 and Wii, but i reckon this would be better utilized by having either a nice lcd tv or maybe a projector... and have it as a kickass games room :)

so, a few questions... (bear in mind its not a big room and the sofa in there is about 2 metres from the wall where the display will be)

1) with the above distance from the wall in mind, would i be better going for a nice 32" LCD over say a projector?

2) if an LCD is preferable (which i'm assuming it would be), is there any need to go for one of the better brands such as Panasonic which if we were talking for standard TV use would come out on top, or would one of the budget makes be just as good for gaming?

3) recommend me something :) dont want to spend megga money unless the difference will be very noticeable and well worth it in the long haul.

would like to spend up to around £500, a fair bit less if possible or a bit more if its for a real corker ;)

Easy answer a Samsung LE37R88BD 37" just google it can be had for £499 and is a real corker :)

edit: I just noticed you mentioned a projector tbh at 2 metres distance it really isn't worth it you wouldn't get a very big image at that distance so I'd stick with a tv.

and do you think that that would definitely be worth the extra over something like a 37" hannspree which is around £399? or even the offerings from hyundai and sharp for example?

I have to say when I was looking for a new tv I didn't really look at those makes I was just going by reading AV forums and so on and it came down to a choice between the Samsung and a Sony for me, I decided that for what I wanted out of it (plus I was thinking of a getting a projector to go with it) the extra money for the Sony wasn't worth it so I went for the Samsung, I'm happy with it and plus it has a funky little light at the bottom, what more could you want? :p

Though I should mention it wont do 1080p, however really you need 42"+ to really see any kind of benefit of 1080p.

If you're not watching TV, then any brand will do. Games have nowhere near the colour range of TV. I started along with that idea but then I began watching Blu-ray and HD material so the Toshiba got chucked and in came a Sony.
