Hi all

I have a Panasonic 65 inch LED which this morning blew the RCD on the fuse box.

Fuse must have blown on the TV as it no longer switches on.

First time I've ever had a TV do this so need some advice!

My question is - is it worth me replacing the fuse in the plug or should I just go straight through warranty?

I'm guessing if the RCD blew then something must be wrong with the TV for that to happen? All other stuff connected on the same 4 gang adapter is working fine so it's just the TV.

Cheers

Graham

Has the fuse blown ? If so, was it the correct fuse ? There's no way any TV would blow a 5 amp fuse, but I have know a 3 amp fuse to blow, due to what I assume is the repeated stress of surge current at switch on.

However, the fuse is probably a red herring (I assume it hadn't blown, as you mentioned the RCD trip). It sounds like there could be a live to earth fault. Does your TV have a removable power lead with a three or a two pin connector into the TV ?

I'd replace the fuse and try it again, preferably with a different cable if it's removable and maybe direct into to a wall socket if it's not too much trouble. If it does it again at least you'll be sure the warranty route is the right way to go.
