Will be getting a new tv in the coming couple of months, but what im wondering really is what TV is best to go for in terms of mainly used for gaming. PS3, Xbox 360 etc, for the best quality so the games look great on it pretty much. 1080p, 1080i which is better? ideally I don't want to spend a lot of money I know that you can pick good 42" tv's up for £600 or so. Is it better to go for plasma or LCD? for example I found:

"LG 42LC55 42" LCD HD Ready TV widescreen 1366x768 5000:1 450 cd/m2 5ms Glossy Black"

People tell me LCD is better as Plasma's can break down easy. That tv above is £600, didn't link it because im pretty sure it's a competitor. Want the tv to be slim though, not a chunky tv, ideally possibly wall mountable. I don't really mind about the brand of the TV just as long as it's reliable and will play games at their best quality? Cheers.

if your willing to spend a bit, i would go for a TV that has 1920x1080p, even though most of the 360 library (not so sure about ps3) uses 720p it will still look fantastic and future proof the TV more and blu ray films from your PS3 will look fantastic in their highest format.

i would go for something like a Samsung 37"+ or Sony. just make sure its 1080p compatable and a decent black to white ratio wouldnt hurt either.

also whats your budget, is ~£600 your max?

Basically I'll either be getting a PS3 or 360, haven't decided. Ideally I wanted PS3 thats backwards compatible since I've got an absolute ton of PS2 games and especially all time greats such as Final Fantasy etc. Anyway cheers.

i got a 32" sammy and i'm very happy with it. It doesn't have 1080p only 1080i but after looking at the Blu-ray picture on a 1080p and 1080i I defy anyone without some external visual aid to notice the difference from a "safe" viewing distance.
