TV noob needs spec

I'm looking a 42" (or so) smart 1080p TV with a freesat tuner. Preferably one that's ok with playing my mkv files from the NAS.
What is the best buy ?

Freesat tuner smart tv's. Start off quite expensive. Well the one's i looked at did LOL

Yep. Cheapest that size is a panasonic TX-42AS740. (just under £700)

you could go a bit smaller & go for a Samsung UE40H6700. (£550)

Or you could buy any TV and a separate Sat Box and save some money.

Depends really. If your after gaming and want a good SD picture then Sony. But if you want Apps then Samsung. Whats your budget?.

Not gaming, but would like a decent picture for movies and sports. My current Sony pixellates on running water for instance.
I'd like to keep it around the £400 mark but theres some flexibility.

SAMSUNG UE40H5500 Smart 40" LED TV is suppose to be a good buy for £399 or

if you could push little more you would get better spec
