Hey

First of all sorry if this should be in a different fourm?:D

I recently bought a 50" tv from a high street shop, somthing the same as a meteor :D(on sunday) and its ok with the normal tv picture but when I plug my computer into it and it goes to its highest resolution or second highest there is a line near the top of the screen (about 5" down) but you cant see it unless the picture is in motion whether it be dragging windows over it, watching a movie or trying to play game but between the two it looks like they are out of sinq with each other? Its hard to explan but when i move the camara around in a fps the two sides look wobbly from eachother and the only way to get this away is to turn the resolution down very low and sacrafice picture quality and thats somthing I do not want to do :( So do i have the right to take the Tv back and request a refund in cash? (I payed in cash) Ive only had it for 5 days or will they have the right to say no and only replace the Tv? :( I want to take it back and buy the Full HD version for £60 of the rainforest :D.

Thanks :D

If it is faulty you can ask for a full refund as 5 days is within a reasonable time, you don't have to accept a credit note if they offer one

they may not have enough float to refund you cash in hand

Phoned them up and went through a bunch of settings and nothing has changed, the the lassie on the phone told me to lower the resolution to 800x600 and the problem stopped and then I kicked up a fuss about how am I suppost to play games, movies or browse the internet at that res? I then got told to phone the store i bought it from and ask about it, I spoke to the manager and explained the problem again and he turn round and said it is my computers fault :( I then explaind ive tryed it with another computer, my dads 720p HD tv (42") and my old 42" matsu non hd tv and i ran them at there max resolution and they never had a problem so he said that I will need an engineer to have a look at before it can be brought back in.

So I phoned the other number back up and they refused to send out an engineer and said that the computer is overloading the tv and it cant handle it trying to pin the blame on my computer. :( I then insisted that im not happy with the the quality of the tv and started babbling on about if the tv is 1336x768 why can't i run it at that??!! the max I can run it is 1024x768 it is the tv it as fault!. the lass then replyed if you are not happy with the quality of the Tv we will get so and so to phone you...

So Im still waiting on this call and I was wondeing where i stand on this matter as ive only had the Tv for 5 days? :(

Thanks

For starters a comet is different to a meteor! Have you read the terms usually found on the back of the reciept? Most of these places usually offer a 7 day money back refund period so I think you should be alright, I'm not sure if mentioning the fault will help, they will probably try and fob you off with a replacement if you do.

I dont know can anyone maby help me? because no one on the phone could, I really love the tv when its at its highest resolution aswell :(.

You need to find another device to plug in which produces the same output resolution to confirm its the TV and not your pc.

1) Confirm that the TV is faulty
2) Turn up at the store with the TV explaining that it is faulty
3) The store will either offer to repair, replace or refund.

Can you do that?, I dont see anything on the recipt? I heard the woman say somthing like the store is not obliged to take it back? Is there somthing I could print it out and take down with me saying that I can take it back no questions asked? I dont want to humf this think all the way down there for it not to be refunded without ny back up?

Sorry i dont know much about the trading standerds?

If it's faulty, SoGA states that they must accommodate with one of the options listed in my third bullet or prove that (as it's less than 6 months old) the fault wasn't present in the TV at the point of sale.
