I used to connect my video card on my old CRT to see a film now and then and the quality was nice. Using my 9800 and 1800xl though the screen seemed fuzzy and blurred out while in windows. Text was unreadable and stuff like that. Using S-video out.
The problem is that i got an HD LCD now and the text and screen still look fuzzy as in my old CRT while video seems ok. Using latest version of Catalyst drivers (7.12) and it there are some weird things like maximum refresh rate 25Hz while my old CRT could do 60Hz so it seems kinda weird to me.
My 3850 is coming in a few days so will this be better since i shall be able to connect it with HDMI?
Thanks for the assisistance :)

This will be a lot better, s-video is TERRIBLE for static images etc, only thing worse is composite! HDMI/DVI/VGA to the TV will be much much better, providing you set the right resolution output.

Definatly as above has advised, u cant go wrong with hdmi/DVI there the best connections for quality, on my 26" philips LCD I could technicaly use that as a PC monitor, films look awesome depending on the type.

If its a divx/xvid u cant expect amazing quality but its more then good enough. HD content ie 720/1080 stuff will look amazing.

Cable TV/Sky and freeview will look ok too, but SkyHD will look much better naturally.

The 25HZ should be x2 so 50HZ same as Nvidia do it in Vista now.

I use S-Video to a big CRT and its perfect for movies, far better than my 1080p HD-TV was for SD Material.

Obv the HD-TV looked better for Windows use and Text esp.
