TV - please help a noob!

Currently about to move house and need/want a nicer + bigger tv

So idealy HDTV + Sound please

Had a look in real life and some seem very patchy when lots of action going on and dodgy with black. Looking at a 26" or so screen and a nice surround sound system, eventually hooing upto a stero (if possible) and xbox360/ps2

Any ideas on combinations ?

Also cheaper is good!

Is £550 realistic? I ask as a Lg26"HDTV is £450 odd..

Anyway spending a bit more is okay as dont want to buy something just cause its cheap just to replace it in 6 months as it suckx

That's pushing it, unless you just want a HTIB and not concerned with sound quality. Personally put all your money into the screen now, use the internal speakers for a while until you can afford a decent Hi-Fi or 5.1 surround system. You need to spend close to £1k to get a good (but budget) 5.1 system

Look into 32" for 6 distance', and for 10' distance, 37"
26" will be unbearable from 10' away.

Is there even any point in going HD, on a 26inch TV viewed from 10 feet away? One of the biggest advantages in HD (in my opinion), is you can go bigger without a noticable quality drop.

From 12' my 42" HDTV looks great, even when running upscaled DVD's. Cant wait to try some real HD content.
