TV power brick in wall?

I removed my fireplace so I could mount the TV in its place. I built a frame, boarded and then plastered over having put all the necessary cables, plus extras, and some pull cords just to be on the safe side...or so I thought! Sadly, my new Sony TV comes with an extrenal power brick and I ran 2 kettle lead type plugs up to the tv end which means I needed to pull through the lead connected to the power brick...good planning I thought until I quickly realised that there wasnt a big enough gap behind my frame to pull through the right angle connector! Its big enough for a HDMI lead but sadly not this connector!

So, can I put the power brick in the void behind the wall? There is plenty of space and ventilation because of the dot and dab walls and I could use one of the existing kettle leads to power the brick? Ive checked the power brick after being on for a number of hours and it is only moderately warm.

Long story short - is it safe to put a power brick in a wall void that is well ventilated?

Thanks

Well buy a temperature probe (DIY electronics store) to tape to it and measure its temp out of the wall and inside for several hours use - if no difference - or only marginal - you are OK.

I'd put the brick near the plugs where it's accessible and just run a longer cable to the TV. Easier to replace if it breaks or you change TV as well.

The cable is attached and can't be changed? Or am I misunderstanding what you mean?

Edit - can you get a extension on the 12v side?

I've never seen an extension cable for the 12v side? Or do you mean cut the plug off and extend with connectors?

The power cable that plugs into the power brick from the mains what connecter does it have , kettle type or clover leaf?
If kettle type make up your own cable, and connect the following after feeding cable up through the wall void.
IEC C13 Female Inline Rewireable Socket Adapter Plug 10A 250V.

The cable from the plug socket has a figure of eight (clover?) plug on it which was what prompted this post. The problem with extending the mains cable is that the power brick needs to go somewhere and because the tv is so close to the wall it will have to be in the wall cavity?

What connector is on the end of the cable that plugs in to the TV (post a photo if possible)?

If it is a fairly standard type connector, you can always make up an extension cable to the correct length and feed it through the wall and have the brick away from the TV.

Can you not mount the power brick onto the back of the TV then connect the existing mains power into the brick?

Was just about to post this!!

The other methods require far too much work!.

Just velcro/cable-tie the brick to the back of the TV, then plug the 8pin/kettle cable into that.

Gives plenty of ventilation, and doesn't require pulling the wall apart if you replace the TV etc.

This if it fits, otherwise just cut the cable it's a 5 minute job to put it back together afterwards.
