I've tried to hold off for so long and think i may not be able to take it anymore, so whats the tv to get considering its for 360 only? Is there really a need to go further than 720p?

Was looking at the Sony Bravia 40inch super-supermarket was selling at £600 which meant i could get it for £540 but i gave up like a girl.

Was looking at the Hannspree's as well in terms of bang for buck. Bit lost at the moment, what do you people recommend?

Its only for my uni house bedroom, so doesnt need to be huge, was considering 32" or bigger, unless 26" is good enough? But i reckon i'd want bigger (32+)

Cheers

I just got my Toshiba 32" for £400.

What model is it?

Anyone know from avforum trolling or personal experience whether the toshiba's are much of an improvement over the likes of Technika/hannspree? (I assume so but would prefer a proper opinion!)

my 32" Tosh is the Regza 32C3035D (maybe with a B at the end, cant remember) and the quality is great. Bought it as my last Toshiba's picture quality was second to none, and in the high street retailer this was by far the best on display there above more expensive brands.

Isn't a uni bedroom quite small?
I sit about 4 or 5 foot away from my 26" tv and it's good, could be bigger but it's perfectly fine

Aye well it is pretty small and have to sit relatively close but i do have money to burn and would probably prefer something bigger i could move back home if necessary and still have decent MP games.

Saying that its my own house, not strictly a uni one...just that its close to uni heh

so what TV is it you have ic1male? Seems Toshiba is the way to go and the price sounds very tempting

I'm guessing this one;

Toshiba 32WLT66
32" HD Ready REGZA LCD TV with Integrated Freeview
* REGZA 32" HD Ready LCD Television
* Active Vision LCD
* 2 X HDMI Connections
* Integrated Freeview Receiver
* Actual Colour: Black Frame/Silver Stand

:)

Can be had for £407 excluding delivery so probably around £430 in total.

Same as Stokefan - 32C3035DB. Problem is I'm only sitting about 3-4 feet away so SDTV via Freeview looks a bit meh. Xbox 360, PS3, Blu-ray and other HD material look fantastic though. One word of warning though - turning the backlight down below 93 makes the TV buzz. I'm not a TV settings whore so I've kept it at 100 and I find the picture pleasing.

I'd reccomend the Samsung R87/88 Series (There the same, just a certain shops only sells the 88)

Dont want to start a debate but I've always read and seen polls that this is one of the best TV's for gaming.

Personally I think playing a huge TV makes the game harder to play. Fair enough, Halo 3 looks nice on my uncle's 40" HDTV, but it's harder to play imo. I do most of my gaming on a 19" WS monitor. Have played using a 22" TFT and that seems like a nice comprise - slightly bigger.

Also note how much space your room has. Anything over about 30" and your going to need to be sitting a decent distance away. When i played on my uncles TV the image seemed huge even when sitting at the opposite end of the room.

Looking at all these tv's is ruining my revision for monday! Definately going for either a 26 or 32" now, more likely the 32" as i dont want to want something bigger. Very confused as to what to go for, is the difference between a hannspree and a samsung on a 32" really that noticeable?

I wouldnt want to go any higher than the £480 of the samsung r88, unless for only a little more im going to get mammoth difference, which i severely doubt.

SONY KDL32U2000U - I should be able to get one of them for around 405-410, assuming it comes back in stock in a certain place, does this blow the pants off anything else i could get? Saw it for 700 odd elsewhere! (main motivation behind asking)

But if its worse for games than the likes of the r88 then i wouldnt be interested.

Got ANOTHER question for you lot. The Toshiba 32C3035D, now i've seen this for £399 however it states its the 32C3035D B, does that mean its different, £40 difference from the nearest i've seen!

The options are now narrowed down to the r87/88, the toshiba mentioned above or the sony above that. Would appreciate any/all answers!

Might I suggest

Sony KDL32D3000.

It is a beast of a TV, it is capable of 720p, and 1080p. It has 3 HDMI ports, S-Video, PC input. In fact, just about everything you could want a TV to do!

They are available on the net for about the £650 mark. High street stores like the big department stores are about £899 with 5 year warranty so it is well worth shopping about!

Mine is hooked up to a PS3 and looks stunning. Blu Ray HD films are fantastic.

Has 100Hz refresh rate and game mode also supports full 1080p/24 for full HD readyness.

As a guide, look for 100Hz refresh 3+ HDMI, PC input, front surround to help sound, a good inbuilt digita; tuner, and a case which is easy to look after. I had a Sammy piano black TV for a bit and the case constantly marked and scratch easy with just cleaning!

Final note, LCD TV is hugely subjective, what one body likes, another won't. You must go to a real retailer and at least look at them.

Oh, forgot to add, the TVs in shops will not look as good as they should as many stores don't bother setting them up right. I went to have a look in local department store and most of their TVs looked terrible. The one I ended up buying has a light sensor which dims the picture in certain conditions. In the store it was max brightness but looked really washed out and dim! Turned off the light sensor and it is great. Never undersold is great, good setup better!
