OK tell me any tips you have on how not to lose tv/hifi/dvd/cable remote controls..

I'm sick of searching for them all thetime, and when I find one after a day or so, usually another one has gone missing.

Currently I just taped them all together into a giant mega-remote thing, but it's kinda ghetto and the cable remote slipped out as its a round shape.

How do you you folk 'do' your remotes?

I've never lost a remote, as it always either sits on the tv or clearly on the table infront.

I guess you could always attach a mobile phone or a pager to the remote for finding :p

ahh see. I forgot an important point... 2 kids, 1 + 3yrs. I have found remotes, in tumbble dryer, in the bin, in shoes, in toy boxes, you name it.

Where can I get those keyrings that used to beep if you whistled loud enough - anyone know?

I have considered literally tying them down but that's a safety hazard. Also maybe glue them to a large peice of 2x4, that way no one can mess with the remotes

The worst place it can go 'missing' is down the side of the sofa. We only have one Sky+ remote, so it's easily found.

I've also got an MCE remote in my room, I just put it on my bedside table when I'm done with it.

Put it in a good place when I'm done with it :p

I have 3 remotes together to form a Toblerone shape, have them all share the same 2 AA batteries. Everything works, cheaper to run, cant slip down the side of the sofa, a lot harder to loose.

Get one of those watch remote controls. There was always at least one person in you class at school who had one and used to confuse the hell out of the teacher when you were watching the worlds most boring geography videos.

PK!

I have one of these for the wife/ kids to use and one of these for me
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/remotes/universal_remotes/devices/3898&cl=gb,en.

Controls my amp, digi box, cable box, HTPC and DVD player.

I gave my 2year old an old remote to stop her messing with the harmony one but it only took her 2 minutes to figure out out it did not work.

or spend a grand on a crestron system
