For the record, unless there was a very specific reason for me buying the 40" Sony KDL0S550, I would not pay £599 for it.
£450 would be closer the mark for that particular telly, unless of course the 40" Sony KDL0S550 will do.
It would be best to spend an evening reading up at avforums. That will give you a much better idea of the best way to spend £500-£600. Your choice will depend on what you intend to use the TV for, as no particular TV is currently dominating in every category - ie. all TVs have strengths and weaknesses.
