Hey all,

Assuming this is the right place to put this.

My dad is after a satellite box (with Freeview and the likes) which he can connect up to his PC. Is there such thing?

He currently uses a TV Tuner card however it's on its way out and he'd like something a bit cheaper than is already out there. Preferably something that can record 2 channels at once.

Only thing I was thinking if there is a way to hook up a Satellite box to his PC is how would selecting things to record work, would he get a program on his PC or would he need a separate display to select channels to record?

Budget is sub-£75 if possible.

I program my VU+ Solo2 satellite box with a program called OpenWebif on my PC.
There are cheaper alternatives out there but £75 is a bit low.

He doesn't mind going 2nd hand to keep the costs down - How does it work connecting to your PC, does OpenWebIF just show the interface of the Satellite Box in a web browser? What sort of connections are required? USB? (Other than I'm assuming Ethernet & Aerial)

My satellite box is in the other room and I connect via USB

You can get a DVB-S2 card for under £75. That will pick up free to air satellite channels
