TV Tuner Advice

The S350 is for FreeSat Satellite TV, has a single tuner and does not support the HD broadcasts. I have in my media center, works ok. No issues apart from above.

The K300 us a mpeg encoder, you connect the output of a set top box or similar and it encodes to mpeg for storage. Haven't used one, but it's not a TV tuner.

Are you actually looking for a DVB tuner for terrestrial broadcasts?

This is cheapest, not tried one personally though

That second point may be Ok for me, would that allow me to add my set top box to it because I don't mind doing that. Ideally . Was looking for a TV free view tuner so Just stick my aerial in and tune to get channels like BBC 3 etc. That's what I have at the moment... Or rather did have lol

The USB ones aren't bad to be fair if you are using the homes aerial, I've used a few different ones.

As you own a TV card an extra USB one might be handy. If you have a laptop it can use the USB tuner if it suits and should there come a time when you can reuse the PCI-E tuner you can use the USB one as a secondary to watch & record at the same time :)

I have a Hauppage PCI Digital tuner in my HTPC had it for quite some time now. PCI slots are starting to drop off mobos so I wouldn't want to be buying a PCI card now.

No worries.

As far as remotes go....you can get free apps for smartphones that act as a simple keyboard and mouse. I find this to be more useful than a MCE remote but to each their own :)

Got the Compro VideoMate S350 and tried to connect it to a spare sky dish and was able to received the available free to view channels on the sky dish.
