tv wont let me run 1080i.

hi people too cut a long story short. i am running my xbox through the microsoft vga cable atm and am running it at 1360x768. but it wont let me run it at 1920x1080 the option is there to select it but when i do the screen goes all funny then goes back to original resolution. is there a reason behind this. i am looking at my tv manual now and it saws it can run hdtv 1080i. is there a setting i am getting wrong anywere.

Does it specifically state it can do 1080i over VGA? Might only do it over HDMI/component, some screens VGA inputs are pretty limited

well the only input it has is dvi-i so ye it must be over vga.

My samsung tv will only go up to 1360x768 over vga.

Yup, the VGA cable can only do progressive stuff, so 480p, 720p and 1080p, No interlaced stuff. Component is the only way you can get 1080i on the 360.
