I am pretty green when it comes to overclocking memory, normally I just use the XMP profile and be done with it

Been playing about with my memory settings to try and get better performance, would appreciate any advice on what to tweak next, if anything?

Memory is 4x 8GB 8Pack DIMMs, rated for 4000 MHz as I wanted to buy it just the once, as opposed to having to buy faster again the future. DRAM voltage is currently 1.35 volts. I realise that having 4x DIMMs is going to mean compromising the results a bit.

Motherboard is a Gigabyte X470 Aorus Gaming 7 wifi, latest BIOS with 1.0.0.4 B AGESA and latest chipset drivers.

TIA :)

Have you tried using the ryzen dram calculator? as this is a great place to start from when overclocking memory

Yes :) The calculator suggested tRAS or either 30 (safe) or 28 (fast) but that was the only difference between the settings it recommended. Just wondering whether I am better off trying to increase the speed or reduce the latency, particularly given I'm asking more of the IMC with the four memory sticks.

3200 is pretty good with 4 dimms, you might be able to push a little higher if not you could try upping the voltage and going for cas12.

Try reducing a couple of settings at a time then run some benchmarks and memtest to check stability then rinse and repeat, took me over a week doing this and running memtest overnight to fine tune.

Have you imported your ram settings from thaiphoon burner into the Ryzen DRAM calculator?

@Joxeon - thanks, I was wondering if that might be the case. I will try tightening up the timings little by little.

Not sure what you mean - just loaded it up to see what rank layout they were etc. Obviously the XMP profile in them in for DDR 4000 MHz....?

If you Google how to import ram settings from thaiphoon burner into dram calculator, it gives you a much more accurate read out of what settings to use, rather than just a guesstimate, once I had done that with mine I got better more stable RAM timings etc :)
