Me: Tweeter, i think...
Him: Ah...

/me looks over to see he's pushed it in.

The bit in question is the silver circle next to the logo at the top of the speaker..is it now "pushed in" slightly.

Ideas? Can it be fixed easily? A DIY job?

I do have access to a vacuum..but it's quite a big thing..just a quick pass over? Until it turns "normal" or..?
I wouldn't do that TBH. If it 'sucks' too much you're tweeter may get damaged.

Duck tape would possibly be too strong for this application too. I'd use a blob of blu tac to tease the dome back out instead.

You know, I'm not so sure about this now, maybe the vacuum cleaner nozzle is overkill.

What about a piece of plastic watercooling type tubing, and employ manual suckage? For want of a better word.

May try the manual suckage thing..or have the vacuum quite far away..blu tac doesn't seem strong enough and the duct tape..well i'm afraid of that. :(

But it's something i CAN do myself? Don't need to go back to the shop or whatever?

New tweeter time- just for the principle he damaged and means paying out. And how old is he? I've only seen toddlers do it.

19.

I tried the vacuum thing..got very closer to the tweeter and made no difference. Tempted to try the blu tac or duct tape idea now.

Sometimes isn't as tacky as it should be... make sure the blutac is very warm and soft then give it a try. I actually find the white version stickier so if you have some of that then all the better.

I suppose you could also try electrical tape. Bit softer and nowhere near as dangerously tacky as duck tape. Just be very careful. :(

Good luck with it! :)

P.S: I honestly would not consider using duck tape. It will most definately damage the tweeter as they're incredibly delicate.

Sure, well i'll give it a try... :(

I'm trying to listen to songs with the treble up to maximum with zero bass..changing the balance to see whether it's damaged but it seems okay..i think..

First course of action is to give your 'mate' a slap. Second is to let him know that if he touches your kit again with his club-fists that you'll rip out his larynx and beat him to death with the soggy end. Third course of action is to get the fool to pay for a replacement if you can't get it back into perfect condition. It's the hi-fi equivalent of running your key down the paintwork...

Best method is insulation tape. Reduce stickness by first sticking it too clothes a few times, keep doing this and trying untill you have a piece thats only just sticky enough to pry it out.

And yes, slap your mate and tell him you owe me a drink for being a pleb :p

^ No get him to replace the tweeter, it probably is damaged. Probably around £10-£20.

Getting a perfectly matched tweeter for the speaker is going to be hard, if thats the route you go then you would need too get 2 and replace them both imho.
However judging from that photo it looks like it has been hardly pushed in at all, pry it out and give it a good high frequence testing!

If they're similar to the 60x series 3 then a new dome (without the big magnet) costs about £12 from B&W and their nice and easy to fit (or at least they were on the 60x). A whole new tweeter is around £40, but you won't need that.
