Is there anyway I can filter channels on either site so it only shows streams without people yabbering on? I just occasionally want to watch a bit of gameplay without having to listen to somebody who thinks they're a presenter wittering on about inane rubbish :/

Turn the volume down? Or just watch some videos? Or perhaps include "without commentary" in your search. I have never watched any streams (except blizzcon) so I can't tell you if there are any filters.

lol, pretty sure he thinks you mean turn the commentary only down, not including the game sounds. Least I really hope that's the case :p

Edit: oh wow, it seems not.

No, that is exactly what I want, either that or to be able to show channels where the host is not presenting, ie; just playing and streaming. Obviously I'm not clever enough to have considered turning the volume down at all.

It's OK. I just gave you some suggestions. You could have just said. "I have thought of that, but THANKS anyway", especially since I took the time to type to you. But instead you chose to troll me; shows a lot about your character. This is the last I have to say on this matter, too, you may have the last word.

I may have responded badly and I'll apologise for that but you made a conscious choice to attempt to belittle my intelligence by deliberately making an inane comment that clearly was not what I had asked for, even if it was not clear do you really think I had not considered turning the volume down? Honestly?

Alternatively, I'm tired, being an ass and taking it all wrong. In which case I'll apologise and move on :(

Lol to the replys

Dont think theres a way to turn off the commentating or even to mute it. I usually spend 5 mins channel hopping (usually trying to find a good starcraft stream) just as i would when watching tv and settle on one that isnt waffling.

Unfortunately, that is kind of the whole point of Twitch in that it gives a platform for people to entertain their viewers while playing a game through engagement with their viewers.

The most succesful channels 99% of the time are the ones where the streamer engages with his audience while playing a game, as this is what the people watching generally want, whether it's chatting about the game specifically where the streamer is giving tips and tricks for the game being played or whether it's chatting about up coming games, politics, the weather etc etc (I'm sure you knew this already though).

I reckon your best bet for finding a stream where someone isn't really talking, and is just playing a game, is to choose the game you want to watch and then scroll to the bottom of the list of people who are streaming with little to no viewers. You may find there are people down there without webcams and microphones who are just playing a game.

Could you try instead searching for people streaming live via Steam? I've not really used it but I'd imagine there's a lot more cases of people just playing the game rather than trying to make a song and dance of it.

You'll have to wait for the no voice vods to pop up on youtube, there's a few channels that 'specialize' in just that. Gameplay with no commentary.
