Twin graphics cards

Hey all,

Im looking at connecting up my 42" 1080p aquos to my PC on a permanent basis, and also having my 1650x1080 21" widescreen connected up to it. I have an x1900xtx with twin DVI outputs, I'm aware I can run both from the same card but I always found the whole screen sharing with the ATI graphics panel a royal pain in the bum to 'stick' to its settings.

What I really want is to be able to stream 1080p material into the 42". My recent upgrade on main PC has left me with a socket 939 mobo, 4200x2 and 1.5 gigs of ram which I was originally going to have setup as a media center for under the tv, but I have moved stuff around in the lounge and now its very possible to connect my main PC up (graphics card i mentioned, duo core 6600, ds3 and 6400 geil ram) and not have a cabling nightmare, which is what the media center idea was for.

Is it possible to run a PCI hdmi graphics card as well as the XTX? This would be ideal for me unless it is possible to run 1920x1080 from one output and 1650x1080 at maximum Hz? IE 1080p.

Or would a seperate system fare me better? Id appreciate some feedback if possible. Id be using DVI>HDMI convertor if I keep my XTX on its own. Is there problems running 2 high resolutions from 1 card?

You should be able to quite happily run 2 outputs at different res - however if multi-display acceleration is enabled (or its ATI equivalent) you will often see a significant drop in gaming performance while running in multimonitor mode - sometimes you even have to disconnect the 2nd display and reboot to get performance back... so ideally having 2 gpus in there would be better tho need more power and produce more heat and noise...

Itd be nice to have games on the 42" but I'm not fussed about it to be honest. All I want is 1080p films on it from the pc. Most gaming will be done on the 21", apart from emulated stuff mainly.

Is having a second GPU not going to cause issues?
