TwinTech 9800GX2 Help..

Surely they can't give you a GTX260 as it's inferior in basically all circumstances

I have just RMA'd a 8800GTX so I'm interested in what I'll get back.

id much prefer a refund and put 30 quid on top to get me a GTX295!

You must be mad if you think they will refund you the full retail price of what you paid for the original card.

You'll be lucky to get £200 back what with depreciation etc, and that would go for any other hardware retailer not just ocuk.

Ive spent over £2500 in 2 years with Overclockers and this is how they treat you. Plus I spent @ £800 on those OCUK cards back when they were first released. They say they substitute with the same or better so that should equal a GTX 295. But it looks like I'll have to ring up post more webnotes for them to even reply. Plus they charge you for the calls and you have to ring sales first to get the order number, then the customer support for the RMA. (plus some for reason they dont show all your orders in the 'My Account' area)

Ooo before I forget, this is a thread to help us people with these cards, so yes help is what we are after or useful criticism :)

All I’m trying to achieve here is not to be screwed over by a company like oc and so far at least 2 others are in the same boat.. now if you as a company state 2 years RMA then that’s the way it is but oc are not adhering to there terms and conditions..

What do we do ehh..

Seems my 9800GX2 has beens sent back to France

The product GX-096-OK on RMA***** has been sent back to manufacturer for repair or replacement. It will be returned to you as soon as we receive it.

Further email confirmation will be sent when the item is returned to you.

Do I now wait 1-2 months for twintech to do anything like the above poster Drutha?

Yo

Err its been 20 days todate since my card was sent to france for replace or repair, i had the same email reply as you just did..

I will giv it to the 1 month mark then call overclockers but i know there probly going to say when its back i will be informed and they will probly say they cant contact twintech to find out were the card is.. I'm just assuming the worst hehe :)

Some good news with a cry factor

Ok I got a reply saying there replacing my 9800GX2..

Better than what I was expecting but I will miss my 9800GX2 :(

Dear Mr So & So, The product GX-205-AS on RMA has been replaced, this will be sent on a new order. This will be despatched as soon as possible, subject to stock availability.

The Gfx card is this one I think

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...56&subcat=1410 (Asus GeForce GTX 275 896MB)

I'm happy as well as sad.. its better than a GTX 260 and I guess in non SLI games this will be hela faster than my 9800GX2..

Anyways the RMA has happened im just waiting for my new baby to arrive.. hope you guys get a replacement soon!

Cheers ;)

I got my Asus ENGTX275 yesterday...

I'm really in a HMMM frame of mind about this card but i really need to do more testing..

Some reason I'm posting only 11800 3dmark 06 scores.. stock Gpu speeds with a 4ghz e8400..

Now i know for a fact i was posting around 16 to 18k on my 9800GX2 depending on if i used my quadcore Q6600 clocked at 3.6 or this cpu at 4ghz..

Anyways I’m really confused about this, gaming feels good.. I mean i tried all my games i play and they feel really smooth as expected from a card like this.. it feels the same as i was running my 9800GX2..

I just cannot explain the loss of 5-7k points from 3dmark 06.. I’m sure I’m not noobing out.. My best score on 06 was 19.5k that was with my Q6600 G0 running at 3.8 gigs and with my 9800GX2 clocked up as far as poss.. Do you think maybe my Cpu is bottlenecking my scores? even then i refuse to think its 6k average loss due to the bottleneck.. GRRR

I've downloaded a new version of 06 as mine was a good 2 years old but i don’t think this is going to sort it.. will try it out when i get home after work as i didn’t get a chance to try it out late last night..

The short story is Hmmm I’m unsure, and i still miss my 9800GX2.. Any1 want to swap there GX2 for my GTX275? No jokes :D hehe

Ooo one to try later ofc is differnt drivers.. did a quick search and the common score for mysetup with this card is around 17k so something is defo up.

I will update this later!

The 3DMark06 issue is simple issue really. The problem lies with 3DMark06 and not the new 275, basically because it's so old the newer tech products are scoring lower, this can generally be seen across the board, especially with Nvidia. Now on the other hand if you ran vantage, there would still be a difference but I reckon it would be smaller, since it's much newer. Your testing new hardware on an ancient benchtest, why test it on uptp date tests, ie Vanatge.
