It is moron season again- it is early this year.

There was a major grass fire on the hill behind my house on Monday evening. It was touch and go whether the houses on the hill would burn or not, but eventually the fire brigade got it under control.

I know it's just people being idiots, but it is very annoying, and was worrying enough I packed a bag and dusted off my evac plan.

Link to the local rag, with the usual hideous adverts all local news sites carry these day.

Holy smoke.
No seriously that's quite bad. We have it round our way too as a lot of common land. Sad that the kids feel the need to do it but.... I'll ask a stupid question...how does one come to the conclusion that kids did in fact start it? I mean let's assume they all deny it and nobody saw them do it etc etc. What evidence could there be left from these kind of fires to conclude that it was started deliberately?
I can understand the fire brigade tracking back the cause of a house fire to say a faulty tumble dryer or something, but on a common land where you can simply light a very small fire with a lighter which then becomes this...?
