Two 360's broken in 2 days - FFFFUUUU

Sucks, might be time to buy a Playstation.

I tried this after my release day console red ringed on me. However I never even got as far as powering it on and its sat there getting dusty since Christmas. My repaired 360 gets used everyday though. Should really use or sell the ps3. :o

It still amazes me to this day why Microsoft, despite knowing they had issues with the console they have sold to millions upon millions of customers, never actually fixed the issues. Instead they just fix it when it breaks.

To be fair though, you can't really argue with the warranty procedure.

Seems pretty unreasonable to recall every single xbox ever produced, may as well wait until it has broken then replace it after all not every xbox dies.

they got much, much better than the first batch. Smaller chips, better cooling etc. Now there's a new revision altogether which by all accounts, except your friend, is pretty much solid.

To say they never fixed it is a bit far fetched

i have had both break, but must say unimpressed with Sony customer service whereas MS was top

i also own original xbox, PS1 and 2 -> they are all running strong. also i used to play consoles a lot more than i do today. in fact i don't log too many hours on the current gen consoles.

seems these next gen console are getting more expensive and quality seems to be a thing of the past :(

hope the ps4 and xbox 720 (or whatever they will call em) do better in terms of quality than current versions

dont think Sony have anywhere near the % of failure problems that MS have had
(havent had an issue with either of mine, although the X360 is used far less now)

You can get a pre-owned elite with 12 months warranty online for £89.99 delivered. If you sold all the bits you dont need it would be a cheap ish fix and also a warranty..

BLOPS double xp weekend isn't happening this weekend anyway, it'll happen some time in the future.

^+1

They really do need to sort out the reliability of the 360... I don't know a single person who owns one who can say it hasn't broken once....

I have a 360 manufactured October 2006, it's still going strong and hasn't been repaired but it sounds like a hoover.

I agree with this, although you cant exactly claim its out of line with any other industry these days. Consumer goods are not meant to last, for the same reason its better not to cure the common cold.

The xbox 360 was thusly named to prevent the ps3 competing with an xbox 2. 3>2 to the fickle consumer, and Sony already had the upper hand with bull**** marketing and the usual false claims. (the cell processor... was it worth it? Using pre-rendered Final Fantasy footage to sell PS2s etc etc)

Therefore, assuming Sony don't jump ship and establish a new brand (which imo they should do) i wouldn't be surprised to see the PS4 compete against the Xbox IV, or some other 1 upper word like 'Vantage' or ' Xtreme'
