Given my budget, i'm stuck on the choice of two 7900 GT's or a single GTX.. I don't have HD, just an lcd 19" DVI monitor max res. 1280x1024.

Bear in mind I just want the Highest max possible performance. What Can u guys recommend?

read the threads.... few of these about etc.
[spoon feed] get the GTX... at that resolution it will probably be slightly faster than the two GTs. Crazy to even consider SLI/XFire on a 19" screen imo.

Are you sure, or have you been duped by the marketting? At higher resolutions I would agree... but I myself am far from sure that a SLI config would be faster at that resolution...

I've got a 19" WS and SLI kills a single card at native resolution with full detail and AA turned on.

I'd get the GTX, then you have the option of getting another later on for even better SLI performance.

Alternatively, just get one GT now, and see how it performs at that resolution. The GTs overclock like crazy, so you probably wouldn't be disappointed.

Also worth reading as many reviews to see how the different options perform with the games you play the most.

I'll certainly reserve my judgement when we find out what cpu this guy has.... 2.7 or less (or 2.5 if he has dual core) and I will stick with "wont be faster, or noticably faster".
