Hi all,

OK so downstairs I have my virgin media line in and modem. The router is upstairs as that's where the laptops are (parents' and sister's). The patriot box office and iPad downstairs get really poor signal. I have an old router laying around, so I can I plug this into the modem, and then plug the existing router into the old router, and disable DHCP on one of them? Will this work as a second access point then?
Code:
MODEM -----> Exisiting Router (DCHP Enabled, Port Forwarding etc) -----> Existing Router (DHCP etc all disabled)
                                                       | |
                                                       |------> PBO, iPad etc (WiFi) |-----> Laptops (WiFi), my PC (ethernet)

Apologies for the crap diagram lol

Thanks!

If you plug the cable into a LAN port (rather than the WAN) on the second router, and disable DHCP it, then most routers connected like this act like a wireless access point.
