The world's fastest GPU has arrived with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580. Experience blockbuster games like Call of Duty®: Black Ops and Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X® 2 in their full glory with everything cranked to the max. Instead of fans on its obverse side blowing air onto the PCB, there are three fans on its reverse side, drawing air from the aluminum fin array, and onto the PCB. The PCB also seems to be a non-reference design.

Dont know who on earth would buy the phantom for £440 when you can get a 7950 the performs better for £320, when are Nvidia going to drop their prices? Are these really going to sell?

I still love the look of those Phantoms!

Me too. If my cards weren't watercooled, Phantom would be my number one choice. CustomPC reviewed the 560Ti 2GB and 570 Phantom cards not so long ago. Best noise management vs performance/ OC'ing on the market and look AWESOME! As the review stated, to put an aftermarket cooler on that's this good, you'd be looking at £40+ prolimatech/ Thermalright kind of quality and void your warranty in the process of fitting it. Gainward definitely hit a sweet spot with the Phantoms in my opinion.

Don't want to descend into an AMD vs NVIDIA debate here but....as many other threads have stated.....the 7950 is AMD's new "Ground up" architechture, 2 years + in the making, and is only JUST faster than a 580. GTX 580 is still a damn fine card and these 3GB Phantoms have been a very limited edition since launch last year. Performance is still monstrous and some people play games/ use apps that require a 3GB frame buffer without spending a fortune on cards like the Quadro 5000/ 6000. Cinebench/ Adobe CS etc get a MASSIVE boost on 3GB 580 (an area where AMD's fire Pro cards fall WELL short.) As always its personal choice so don't see the point of you flaming a deal just because it doesn't interest you ;)

Just seems pointless to the average consumer in this market tbh, a card that costs £100 more than another card that performs better and draws less power.
