A massive security operation is under way in Londonderry following two explosions in the city.

The bombs exploded at Strand Road, close to the DHSS office, and at the tourist centre in Foyle Street, within 10 minutes of each other.

There are no reports of injuries. Homes and businesses were evacuated after two telephone bomb warnings.

Police described the attacks, which happened just after 20:00 GMT, as "cowardly and callous"....

Really sad to hear stuff like this is happening again, has anything been happening in Derry recently to have sparked this? Being away from N.I. for Uni I don't hear much of the local news.
 
A week or so ago I defended the NI situation as typically blown out of proportion. (Which it usually is)

Since then theres been 12 car hijackings (3 charged and released...!!!), a man shotgunned dead no more than 5 miles from me and 2 bombs by the good old fashioned republican degenerates.

Welcome to this very backward country. There are mostly good people bound by our wee country and its problems but theres also the aforementioned.

the more this goes on thwe more and more the public are going to lash out. No one wants this anymore, everyone wants to get on with there lifes.

Derry is at a complete standstill this morning which means a lot off people wont get to work, like myself.

These muppets need to wise up. They have no support any more othr than a few mindless clowns
 
People are idiots. They will fight over anything, no matter what. It's not even 'the cause' they are fighting for: a banner is just an excuse to make their Cro-Magnon love of violence seem righteous and not disgustingly unevolved.
 
Such a shame that a small group of idiots can’t see that the time for this has passed. I suppose it will take decades for some of these hardheads to change but I have no doubt that incidents like this will not stop the vast majority from working towards a bright future.
 
Its a legacy terrorism, they are simply using the past to create an air around them and recruit a few "mindless" people.

Frankly all this talk about moving on or whatever , means absolutely nothing, why even remark at it, pointless in fact, they have status quo any more, nothing more than a gang with quite a bit of logistical support or at least a gang with nationalist reasons, which usually makes things a tad more difficult, since the ol' "if you aren't with us, you are probably with the enemy" , motive is no doubt in use.

Shame for the people though, i doubt this will really change any time soon or ever.
 
Heard them going off last night and they were very loud even though im several miles outside the City centre. Absolute scum whoever done this and are trying to drag us all into the past. It's so angering.
