I looked through a couple of threads on the search function but cant find what i am looking for so i thought i would post.

Basically i need a way to hook up two cpu's (two separate rigs) to a single widescreen monitor. The idea is that when im not gaming on my gaming rig, i can switch the monitor to work for the computer that is used for surfing, work etc.

Ive heard about KVM switches, splitters and what not so could somebody let me know what i should be looking at?

Does your monitor have two inputs? If so connect each computer and just switch inputs on the monitor when needed.

you can get PS2 or USB KVM switches which take a single keyboard, mouse and monitor and attach it to 2 machines. You then swap between machines with a combination of keyboard buttons, or a manual switch.

D-Link do a very good, cheap 2 port KVM switch - it's about £15 IIRC.

Gives VGA and PS2, but you could easily use adapters for USB or DVI :)
