Complete novice at DIY here, I've previously installed a can crusher in my kitchen, used it and ripped the entire thing off of the wall. I've just realized why, the previous tenants have apparently plastered on top of the previous plaster and wall paper, so there are now 2 layers - brick, plaster, wall-paper, plaster, wall-paper, leaving about an inch of plaster on some very uneven brick. Is there any point in me trying to attach anything on the wall, and if so then how?
