Two modems?

I have two points on opposite sides of my house where I get Virgin's stuff coming through. On one side of my house I have Virgin's HD TV bundle, and I used to have my modem and router there. On the other side of my house I have Virgin's secondary TV bundle, and it's also where my current internet is coming through. The router has to be there for my connection to reach the garage, but my computer's on the other side of the house and I'm not getting a great signal or speed. Is it possible to plug a seconds modem and router into the same input as my HD TV package to get good internet on my computer (Which is just above it)? Would it work? Would it affect internet performance through the other router?

no you cant get multiple connections unless you get virgin to install 2 seperate connections, which u'll have to pay double for

My advice would be either use a long ethernet cable run between the router and your PC, or use Homeplug devices, this will allow you to put 1 plug next to the modem/router and another plug near your pc (which you can connect directly to your PC or to a wireless AP for better signal at that side of the house).

I don't understand the previous posts as to how PoE would help but perhaps I missread the question.

Ive been wondering something similar to this, i have a wireless n o2 box in the front room, and also have a couple of spare o2 wireless boxes, when we are in the garden the wireless signal is pretty poor and often loses connection,i was thinking of buying a hopeplug set then plugging one of the spare routers into a home plug closer to the garden maybe in our dry outhouse

would this kind of set up actually transmit a wireless signal from the second router ? or am i talking plop ?

That setup would work, you would just need to make sure that the 2nd wireless router has DHCP disabled, that you only use the switch ports on it (the WAN or Internet port should not be connected to anything). For the wireless settings if I recall correctly you need to set up both routers using the same SSID, the same encryption method and the same key. The channel can be different and in fact would be best if the channels were far from eachother or otherwise the 2 routers would cause interference for eachother.
