Hi,

Is it possible to have two monitors doing different things, e.g. one showing a movie while the other word processes...?

Or something like that.

And what's it like linking two monitors together and spreading the desktop out?

Thanks. :D

yes, any graphics card with dual outputs will allow you to do this (or two different graphics cards)

its very very handy to have more desktop space and id never be able to go back to a single screen now.

often have a movie playing on one while im working on the other

can each monitor run on different resolution?.. i was thnking of doing this too when i upgrade... but my old monitor has a lower res than the new one.

yes, you can run different res on each monitor.

also, get a utility called ultramon and that gives you extra goodies. like a task bar on each monitor etc

you can move your mouse from one screen to the other.

its just like having more than one thing happening at the same time on one monitor. your mouse and keyboard effect which ever window you are in.

just think of the two screens as one bigger screen.

You won't be able to play games and switch between monitors though. You will still have to alt tab out of the game to change things on the 2nd monitor.

Not always, if you play the game windowed you can just move the mouse over to the other screen, e.g. with WoW you can window and maximise it and not have to minimise to use the other screen.
