Hello, basically im about to purchase two monitors, and hooking them up to my computer will i need any extra cables or anything to set up duel screen or does everything i need some with the monitors already?

thanks,

Should be fine, you will need 1 DVI and 1 VGA cable. I don't know if its the same these days but multi monitor use to 1/2 the performance while gaming.

Have you thought about Eyefinity or a Single "Good" Monitor?

not sure what eyefinity is, but single good monitor you mean one better than the other?, well id rather them both be the same size to be honest.

Unless your programs can make use of the GPU you might as well buy a £20 graphics card for connecting 2 monitors if you're not gaming.

You may even be able to do it using the integrated GPU if you have one.

Fair enough.

I've no idea how good the GTX 550Ti is for the type of applications you'll be running.

You can run 2 monitors via DVI from the GTX 550Ti.

The monitors are unlikely to come with DVI cables so you'll need 2 cables like this:

OcUK Value 2m DVI Male - Male Monitor Cable

If you're getting a GTX 550Ti how about this one:

EVGA GeForce GTX 550TI Superclocked 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

The same price as the one you linked and a slightly higher overclock.

It supposedly has a 10 year warranty but I'm not so sure reading EVGA's warranty information (click on the EMEA warranty).

The product has a -KR suffix which seems to be 3 years.

cheers, well im getting a system that is already built for me;

and that graphics card doesnt appear to be one of the options
i've now decided to go for IPS panel monitors because they are better for what im doing so i've chosen to buy two of these monitors;

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-085-IY

it doesnt say anything about getting the cables with it so i might have to buy 2 of those you mentioned above, but won't that need two DVI slots on my graphics card? it only says it has 1

The Iiyama monitors come with DVI cables according to the product specification:

Technical Specification

Apologies, the OcUK card does only have 1 DVI.

Ask OcUK to use the EVGA card then you'll have 2 DVI's:

Note - If you would like to make a small change to the specification call our sales team on 0871 200 5052 and they will be happy to help

I'm sure they'll oblidge.

If not you can run 1 from HDMI (it's the same image quality as DVI but there's less faffing about with DVI).

Have you not thought of building your own PC?

It should save you some dosh or allow some upgrades.
