Two monitors: one 1080p and the other 720p, how do I make work at the same time?

Hi guys, I have a HD 6870 and I just got a new monitor to try out the fancy dual monitor set-up. :p

The thing is, my main monitor is 1080p and the other (new one) only has a 720p option, so therefore I don't know how I can Extend the displays as it doesn't allow me to and comes up with "Unable to save display settings"...

But, when switching which monitor to use, everything is fine and perfect. But then only one monitor works and the other one (depending which is used) is switched off and no there is no image...I simply cannot get them to work together as there is no option to do so.

Can anyone help me? I'm using a HDMI cable to connect the second monitor, my main one is a DVI I think.

Any help really appreciated!

Oh and the second monitor will be primarily used for watching movies/tv shows 720p. I know that the quality won't be 1080p but I want it to be on my main monitor

One of the DVI ports on the 6870 is shared with the HDMI port. This will only allow one display to work at any given time. Try using the other DVI port.

Oh yes! Fixed it! Just switched the ports around for my main monitor as it was at the bottom. I put it on the top port and fixed! Thanks guys
for the help :p
