Two monitors

I've got a hd 4650 and a motherboard with intergrated graphics (hd4200) can i run a monitor from the 4650 and one from the motherboard?

You should be able to yes, but some on board gfx have a limit of 1200x1080.

Why wouldn't you just run them both off the 4650?

Its less than 1200x1080 so that wouldn't be a problem

I've tried that, it works but seems to put a lot of strain on it so was wondering if using the on board would help.

My system doesn't seem as stable. I thought by using the on board it would mean each monitor would have a dedicated graphics card, would using them both not be better or make no differance?

Just run them both on your graphics card, it shouldn't cause any further strain. Getting them working on separate bits would be far more hassle than its worth (if its worth anything).
