Ah man that second bundle looks tasty. Any idea how these stack up against the I7 920 (overclocked of course) for rendering in 3ds Max?

any ideas of what (if any) the warranty or guaranty coverage is like for these bundles? also does the overclock mean that the "dynamic speed boost" has been disabled?

That would require new sockets. They were not memory bandwidth starved anyway so its probably pretty balanced now.

Infact the move to DDR3 is only now showing gains for the new chips.

I'm really surprised AMD couldn't just put a triple channel memory controller on the new CPUs :S
2 x 4GB (8GB) sticks will be all the fashion soon. ;)

Infact OCZ already done a press launch for some a week or so ago.

That I don't really mind at all, I couldn't imagine using more than 8GB on a system, 4GB isn't enough since I use a lot of virtual machines as well.

These x6 chips ment to be good for 3d rendering, but as you already have a I7 920 you would see little benifit. More of a side-grade then an upgrade to you.

Triple channel isnt really needed yet, makes very little diffrence atm apart form a few benchmarks. The only real advantage for triple is adding an extra slot of memory in your machine :) 12gb beats 8gb after all :)

Also think AMD wanted to keep backward compatablity with its older platforms, would be silly needing a new motherboard for every 1/2 generation of cpu just to add a new feature. PS looking for a guide to get I3/I5/I7 into my P45 motherboard, i have the sledgehammer and superglue ready but the details are a little shakey.
