Two or more identical bluetooth devices

Hi, some advice please.

I recently purchased a pair of cordless earbuds. If I were to purchase an identical second pair would my device (phone) recognise each one separately or would I have a problem.

I'd think the earbuds would show up with the same designation on the phone as available devices, eg it might show 2 x Bud33 and I wouldn't know which was which, or would the phone recognise there are two and number them separately?

Additionally if I had one pair paired to my phone and my wife had another identical pair paired to hers might we have a situation where we are receiving each others sounds (music etc).

I suppose the simple answer would be don't have two pairs of identical bluetooth earbuds in the same household?

Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't have an issue.

On your phone just rename the buds that are yours (MrBellysBud) and your Mrs (MrsBuds)

That way you know which ones you're connecting to.

May also be worth identimarking each pair so you know which ones are which.

My guess would be that Bluetooth has a MAC-address type thing to show the different devices as I have two identical Bluetooth Speakers and they are seen as different items but named identically so I've changed the local name to "left" and "right" (stereo ability via app).

Thanks to both of you I hadn't realised that bluetooth items could be renamed.

Thanks again

Worried about the Mrs accidentally hearing what you're watching during your alone time hey? ;)

No, I'm currently using Mpow earbuds to listen to Radio 4's Today programme whilst laying in bed and a pair of Sanlepus B1 when out walking. The Sanlepus are much more comfortable than the Mpow (wire between the two earpieces).

I can vouch for the Mpow being waterproof even after a 40 minute mixed wash in a Bosh washing machine. Fortunately I didn't try them in the tumble dryer!
