Just built a PC installed Windows 10 pro and now going through the usual of dumping all the rubbish and tweaking all the settings.
I was in network and sharing and noticed that the name was network yet on my main PC it is Network 2 and my main PC cannot see the new one.
Well past my pay grade.

The network number increases every time you connect to a new network or reconnect to an existing one. The number isn't of any importance and doesn't need to match between machines on the same network.

If you want the machines to see each other you'll need to deliberately configure them to allow it. There's a guide here that should point you in the right direction https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/111783-share-files-folders-over-network-windows-10-a.html
But why would my main PC be number 2 and the new one not numbered?
Will have a look at your link cheers.
I preferred the old home group in Windows 7 worked perfectly.

Because the new one has only been connected to a single network and the old one has been connected to two networks (or the same network twice).

The old networking was horribly insecure and should never have been introduced in the first place.
