I have two routers in my house one of them is the main router after it replaced the old router, the second one I set it up in access point only mode thus turning off routing, dhcp and some other jazz now I can’t get in to it via the web browser but it lets me connect to the wifi and access websites. The main router is a Netgear DG834 and the second one is a Belkin F5D8633-4 so now I need to access the belkin router to change the SSID and can’t. I've tried telnet but no luck

If you have set it up as an access point It gets its WAN addres from DHCP/Static route from the netgear.

The IP address of the belkin will be a DHCP address. EG, when I had my access point with my WRT54GL, TO access the WRT i went to 192.168.0.1, and to access the D-link access point (DIR-615 set to AP mode) I went to 192.168.0.2 (Static route)

If it's set up as an access point, there shouldn't be anything connected to the WAN port!

What's the IP address of the main router and the pc you're using? And what's the subnet mask you're using on all of these?

THats how I set mine Up, LAN port of WRT > WAN port on D-Link. Worked great for me.
You didn't have it setup as an access point then, you just had two routers running in series - which has no advantages and a few disadvantages and potential headaches.

main router:192.168.0.1
my pc: 192.168.0.2
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
There's you're problem then. Without some routing, you can only access the 192.168.0.x subnet.

What I would suggest is change your PC IP to a 192.168.1.x static IP manually (temporarily), then you can access the second router.

When you get access, change that router's IP to something spare in the 192.168.0.x range. Then change your PC's IP back.

Alternatively, change all your subnet masks (either manually for static or by amending the DHCP server) to 255.255.0.0

tried both ways but still no joy:mad:

thanks anyway

that's the first fix i tried
