Hey guys,

I currently have the Netgear one set-up for wireless internet and the belkin one is sat in the draw, as i will soon be using the garden for work i was wondering if there is a way to boost my speed and or signal with one of the spairs and if so, how?

Much appreciated

well you've got a couple of options, Im not familiar with either router Im afraid but if one works as a wireless bridge or repeater you could place that near the back of your house to extend the wireless range.

Another option is to run a cable from the Netgear to the Belkin at the back of the house and use it as an AP to give you extended wireless coverage, if you give it the same SSID and encryption key, but different channel you should be able to roam flawlessly.

You can wire one in as a second access point outside as above. That's probably the simplest way.
I doubt either of them support bridging properly.
You can't boost speed in overall sense as multiple routers won't give you MIMO. However speed is relative to signal strength so by improving the signal you will by association increase the speed.

Hey guys,

Yeah i will plug my belkin one in the kitchen and it will boost downstairs and also the garden/shed.

I remember when i was just using my belkin, in the 192.168.2.1 config there was a setting to make it an access point but that was only reachable when i was online.

My question is, now im on the newtgear is there anyway to set it as a access point without me swapping routers and connections to get into the config?

Thanks

you will have access problems if you plug both router in at the same time until dhcp is turned off on the belkin

easiest to attach the belkin via an ethernet patch cable to the pc/laptop

you should be able to access the router configuration page (may need to repair the connction if its the one you use for intertet access or enable it if its not used)

a few quick adjustments to set wifi security, channels then access point mode, save and reboot and the belkin will become an access point able to recieve an ip from your netgear router.

I believe you will have to wire the 2 touters together using ethenet prots i dont think the belkin can connect wireles to wireless to extend range but its allways worth seeing if that functio has been added in a alter firmware
