Hi, considering buying a Linksys WRT54G Series and have a few questions.
I currently have a router/modem, though the router is wired only. It has 4 Ethernet outs. Is it possible to put one of those Ethernet outs into the input ports of the Linksys WRT54G Series, and have its ethernet ports and wifi work?

Basically, I have a couple PC's upstairs that need wired, some downstairs that need wired as well and I kinda need wifi XD.

Thanks!

Yes. Configure the WRT54G as an access point (Google 'router as access point') and then connect it with a cable LAN-to-LAN to the first router. Ignore the WRT54G's WAN port.

i use 2 routers as well as a modem.

my setup is

Virgin Media SuperHub in modem mode connected to a Asus N-56U working as a router in N only mode. To the Asus I have connected another Asus router in access point mode the RT-N16 but it is in B/G only mode (legacy devices).

The reason I have this setup is because if you have 1 router with N, B and G devices it slows the router down, so it can work in sync with them all. Therefore it is best to have 1 router for N devices and another for legacy devices. Both have different SSID's, run on different channels and I connect priority equipment to the N only router through either wired or wireless.

Other things like mobile phones, smart tv's, tablet's, etc connect to the B/G router, this keeps my network running smoothly and PC's and Laptop's can connect at N speeds no problem without dropping.

Ok, thanks for the help! Just to clarify, I will be able to use both the wireless and multiple ethernet ports of the secondary router, and all the ethernet ports of the primary router?

one of the ethernet ports will be used up on the primary router to connect it to the second router.

so if it is like my setup and both routers have 4 ports each, then you will have 7 useable ports not 8.
