Two screens, different resolutions?

Just bought an NEC 20" widescreen from the MM (thank you, Snow Patrol) to go alongside my old 18" Eizo and find my 7600GT card doesn't support different resolutions on the two screens. Will an ATI card support this and, if so, how do I get one into the house without Mrs Snapshot spotting it? I got enough earache about the screen....

It should support it, ive used older nvidia cards and they supported duel monitors @ different resolutions just fine however im using an ATI card atm.

To echo the above, it should do it fine.

I can select different resolutions with my 2 monitors (not that I would want to, cause they are both 20" widescreens). I am running an 8800 GTS.

You need to right click on desktop, properties, settings, then you will see:

Display:
1. your first monitor here

In a drop down box, click that, and then go between the 2 monitors to select the different resolutions that you want.

*EDIT*

That is assuming you are running windows XP, and not Linux or something :)

In the Nvidia control panel there is a wizard to set up multiple displays.

You are looking for a feature called 'dual view' for what you want to do.

It's definitely possible...

Thanks for the comments, everyone. The problem was that I wasn't being offered Dualview but a reboot sorted that out. A little bit of fiddling got everything set up as I want it. Can't wait to try a DVD on the NEC.

Works with my ATi card, I have a 1600x1200 CRT next to my 1680x1050(21") TFT. Both run at native.

glad to see you're enjoying the NEC :) I hope that red wine softened the blow (if only by a tad) for Mrs snapshot!

Try and download some 720p hdtv stuff - it looks fantastic on that screen!
