Two XP installs; Want to keep most recent one

Am at a LAN currently and trying to fix a friends computer. I managed to bodge the first install (no working cd rom drive, so had to get xp onto the USB stick i had somehow. Anyway, long story short XP is installed in english and the USB key is needed every time to boot.

She wants it to be in swedish, so i borrowed someones Swedish disc and made a bootable copy of windows through that... once i get this Swedish version installed, is it possible to remove all trace of the old WinXP?

Format the HDD before you reinstall?

When i tried using WinToFlash on the swedish CD's files, the install never worked for some odd reason, i could try that again; just dont really want to go back to having zero xp's installed! Life would be so much easier with a working CD Rom Drive!

Could you not borrow a CD drive? Either an external USB drive... or even remove an internal drive from your computer?
