Poll: Type or swipe?

Ever since I started to swipe, I find it feels a bit awkward to type; all that tippy tappy stuff does my head in, watching some folks furiously blur thumbing a Facebook rant is an affront to my eyes and ears. An unscientific poll of work colleagues has revealed I'm the only swiper in the crew.

Do you type or swipe?

Dictate.

I've actually started that with my Pixel 6 as the Assistant is much improved, but not really feasible unless alone. I think I'll use it more with WhatsApp when I'm out walking etc.

Swiping doesn't work all that well in my experience. It's mainly a pain because - with SwiftKey at least - you only get a single recommended word above while swiping as opposed to 3 while typing.

I started off with SwiftKey but found Gboard much better.

Oh, didn't know you could do that. Just tried it, it's horrendous.

Once preserved with, you'll find that going back to tapping just isn't an option.

I'd type just to **** off your kind... and I'd do it on a phone so old it still has a slide-out full-size landscape QWERTY board, but still only use one finger!

TBH, I tried Swype and a couple others before, but they're just too much hassle.
I remain fully manual and I disable autotype and all other 'assistance features', because they never get it right and I don't have time to mess around teaching it all the things I can just type as I go.

You'll get better results if you download the keyboard warrior plugin.

If we're talking about desktop, then I touch-type.

If we're talking about mobile, then @Dirk Diggler has posted in the wrong forum and need to ask the mods to move it to the phones/tablets forum.

It's General Discussion, babes. We could filter a thousand threads from here to a more specific forum but then GD would be 100% identity politics and threads about American cops playing real life FPS.
