My VTEC is going sleep for a bit. I've got a mortgage and skinned myself as it cost £2k more than it should have done. I'm in full saving mode now to get back straight and 6th is my new favouite gear :(

Yeh probably, i pay approx the same on a modified ST with 6 points. I am probably a bit older than you though and there is always the postcode lottery to deal with.

Any tyre suggestions for an EP3?

Budgeted ~£350 inc delivery. Currently on 205/45/17 but thinking that 215/40/17 could also be an option? This is on stock wheels.

Pretty sure someone mentioned Potenzas earlier in the thread, are they still well regarded?

RE050A are the newer, better version of the OE fit RE040. Brilliant all round performance tyre. considering another set tbh

I also run 215/40 and it is a good move imo

I love the ZE912s on my VTI - but not as sporty as a proper Type-R

much prefer them to the Toyo T1-R and Bridgestrone S02 PPs I had previously

much cheaper too

nice stiff sidewalls

This is a good move, more grip! As long as the tyre size is suitable for wheel width.

It will affect your speedo though, see here:-
http://www.paspeedo.com/calculator.htm

That change in tyre size will make your speedo over read by 2%, so if your speedo is already over-reading like pretty much every car does the change in tyre size will make it over-read by a further 2%

A small overall radius means more revolutions per mile, hence speedo over reading.

A larger overall radius means less revolutions per mile and hence speedo under-reads, this could result in many speeding ticket. ;)

I know, i know. Purely for the funny facial expressions i get off the Honda drivers. Seems to be a bit of a winner on the grin factor by everyone.

the son of the family who lives next door to my wifes parents has one of those VTEC stickers on the back of his newish Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S

0-60, top speed, BHP
9.6 secs, 120 mph, 118 bhp

makes me cringe every time.

Cool stickers braaarr, wish I was soo funny!

You might be quick on the straights with the OMG TURBO, but all the Honda (and other marque) drivers will just giggle when they cruise by with your back end sticking out from hedge after understeering off in typical Astra VXR style :D
