Type R and VTEC owners

so because he has a Jamaican accent, thus black, he must be a criminal? I wonder if all eastern europeans hsould be generalised in this way too...

the "2009 gearbox for £500. 22,000 miles on it, No photos" part lead me to believe it was not legit rather than the racial origins of the seller.

my car is back in the garage. DC5 cog being fitted to my EP3 VSS now.

hopefully it stops the clicking and makes my speedo read correctly.

hopefully

no, probably because it is quite a new, rarer car that is being parted out for a suspect low price.

Low price = quick sale = less chance of being caught

No cares that he is Jamaican, just you.

cog from the DC5 VSS is on my EP3 VSS now. clicking has gone and speedo is correct. happy days.

I wouldn't have cared if he was Jamaican if his ethnicity wasn't even mentioned, just seemed odd that people were typing "bet it was stolen" after the post mentioning his ethnicity, maybe I read too much into it...in which case my apologies, if not then people should know better.

Anyway I digress...

Apology accepted

As a B18 driver i just cant see point of swaping for K20. I would rather go for B20 vtec. What i dont like about K series is Vtec does not scream like crazy on them :/

You're the only one who would go for that.

B20 builds seem nothing but completely unreliable going by those who've had one built on the forum.

Turbo your B18 and get it mapped right for the win :D

Sooo, I've had my Type R for over a month now and while cleaning the engine bay yesterday, I noticed this:

Is this the standard manifold heat wrapped or have I got an aftermarket exhaust manifold on my car?[/QUOTE]

No wrapping sin't standard, see if you can pull it back towards the top where it meets to block for any identifying stamps.

Didn't you ask the previous owner before buying?!

I do trade so got the car in PX but I do know the car used to have a few mods on it.

That looks like the OEM manifold. Maybe they wrapped it prior to fitting a GruppeM or an open intake the AEM V2 to help with heatsoak.

Yeah people over at CTRO have said it's a standard manifold that's been heat wrapped.

On another note, Picking up another Type R today that has been modded quite extensively and putting out good power, will update thread later on today :)

Have not seen it here :]

Ahhh cool....Cescz!

Your English is very good and far superior to my terrible written Polish. I can speak with good fluency (thank you Babcia and Dziadzia), but I still sound like a posh Englishman. It's helpful with polish girls though :D

Well, hopefully you can get a better job and not be soo close to the waterline with your finances. It's quite handy having a DC2 as they are pretty cheap to run. Mine hasn't needed anything in the last 12months and only needs an oil change and x2 new front RS2s this month, oh and an MOT.

Lordzed, your English is fine mate. Much better than some on the forum!

Wat ya sayin' blud. U been hatin long 4 ages!

-Ad- that is why I went for DC2 instead of S2K cause car insurance on those is a deal barker for me :(
Besides that i love how JDM DC2 looks and is good practical car :D

Todays job

Took Blower motor out. Got sand and leaves out of the system sprayed some air freshener inside. Took motor apart cleared dust from inside WD40 for smooth operation :D

Still makes me think why i never seen a car that would have some small container for smell liquid just by blower motor. So you could pour it inside using some hidden hole. Like whiper fluid.
If i am bothered i will drill a hole and make that mod myself, put intake pipe in gloves box. And just fill it when it runs out :)

Any EP3 rear caliper experts in here?

A mate and I spent a couple of hours taking the rear calipers off as the driver's side is sticking. On close inspection the piston dust seal is knackered.

I went out and bought a G-Clamp (we did the front brake pads about 7 months ago) and it wouldn't go back in; a quick Google suggests you need to screw with pressure.

Two questions:
1. Where's a good place to buy the dust seals for the pistons? And pistons if one is required? Brakes International?
2. Is there a need to buy a specialist device to wind the piston back in? A YouTube video showed some dude using a metal ruler type thing.

Decided to pop into Halfords and buy some 'Metallic' red caliper paint... Not sure on it to be honest; any better advice for over-hauling the calipers?

Thanks gents.

Musing the idea of a FN2. It's an 08 plate with 10k on the clock.

What sort of things do you need to look out for on these and was there anything changed on the later models?
