Type R and VTEC owners

Adrian Flux have insured my EP3 for £500 with mods. Not that I have any but now I have an excuse to add some :D

They were about £50 cheaper than what Admiral offered me at renewal.

Hi, i'm sorry for hijacking but i didn't want to start a new thread. I recently bought a DC2 (UKDM) and my i've just got my insurance renewal through and i was wondering which insurance companies you can suggest, especially those who have modified cars.

I'm currently with Brentacre who i've been with for ages and they've been really good. They have come back with £843. Normally Adrian Flux are cheaper and use their quote to drive down Brentacre but they quoted over a grand.

I live in BD21 (Keighley, which is very close to Bradford, unfortunately), i've been driving for 8 years and have 7 years protected NCBs.

I know prices usually depend on all sorts of circumstances but i'm just after different companies to try.

Cheers!

Yr 1 - Brentacre - £650ish
Yr 2 - Peter Best (Classic agreed value, not using NCB) - £210
Yr 3 - Peter Best (Classic agreed value, not using NCB) - £300
Yr 4 - Sky - £500ish with everything declared

Give Sky a call and speak to Luke, remember to mention your a member of the club (ITR-DC2.com).

Go private then. Get much more car for your money.

yeah but how long will it take to sell my bog standard econo box, which i have nowhere else to put it bar potentially uninsured etc on the street, plus if i haven't purchased the replacement, then i wont have a vehicle to view potential replacements.... plus i have to work for a living in between this perfect timing :)

Well that last photo was fail, can't make it out

You are spending 11k cash on a car but are worried how you are going to get rid of a estimated £500 car.

Find the car you like, put deposit down. Put shed on eBay on a few days auction. Use your shed to go fetch your new pride and joy. Sell shed to the winning bidder.

Simples.

I am not a fan of the FN2, just looks like a spaceship to me. So never really clued my self up on them.

These guys will help you though, make a new thread if you want more advice.

eBay is becoming the biggest online car market, then autotrader followed by Pistonheads.

Pistonheads is good for Jap cars, find a lot of enthusiasts on there.

Thank you, I'll give Sky a call tomorrow. But every time I've called them they are unable to give me a quote or at least give me a decent price. That was on my lupo and it was all down to my post code.

Try Pistonheads and eBay Motors.

As nicely as RJ put it, £11k gives you a massive choice in FN2's, private and trade. What other cars do you have on your mind?

Yes I've had a look on eBay, most are trade, a few private , not a great difference in prices tbh.

This is the only one on my list, whilst it may not be the most desirable of the type-r, have fancied one for a while.

Haven't spent more than 3.5k on a car before, so just trying to tread carefully and get the right car.

Tbh, with the new type r coming out soon, get a clean 07/08 example and save a heap of cash. Unless you absolutely have to have one with an LSD etc then its just paying a load more money for a later reg plate.

Pistonheads and auto trader should be your primary hunting ground. Also get on civinfo and look at enthusiast owned cars for sale.

Am wondering if anyone can help at all in regards to an FN2 that I have been offered first refusal on.

A friend of mine is friends with some high end Honda/BTCC type people and as such, he claims that his current FN2 is one of the road going Honda BTCC development cars (maybe even 1 of only a few actually in existence).

As far as I can gleam from a relatively quick conversation with him at Silverstone Race Circuit over the weekend, the car is putting out 215bhp on a basic tune and on another tune is capable of 240bhp. Now the engine is supposed to be one that Matt Neal has used/helped develop and its running a different full exhaust, different suspension and a different under pan as well as the changes to the engine. The brakes and interior have all been put back to standard however :(

Now does any of this sound feasible in the slightest? Obviously I need to do some more digging around, maybe go to Honda with the engine codes etc. But what are those in the know opinions?

I should add that this has been offered to me for around £6.5k
