Type R and VTEC owners

What are they like to deal with on cold frosty mornings? How are they to drive when you're pootling around and not driving at 10/10ths? What are they like on motorways?

Depends a bit on tyres as to cold but ultimately it's the driver. Mines been a daily driver for last 7 and a bit years and not had any issues.

Crap on motorways to be fair. Loud and rev high but good fun when you drop i to 3rd... I think anyway:confused: it's a car for A and B roads.

Fantastic car though, real involvement and just the right amount of power. They are also difficult to drive quick but by the same token very rewarding when you get it right.

Poor picture of what I helped my mate with.

black wrinkle painted rocker cover, and carbon fibre plug cover

Short shift also installed but you cant see that now.

The swap bit didn't happen but we did manage to get it built up at least. We tried to lift it in using the engine mounts but it can't fit that way so we'll have to try again using the 'correct lift equipment' :D

Also there now seems to an issues with drivers side lower ball joint it's stuck on

I bought an FN2 Type R about 6 months ago and I absolutely love it. Spent a little more than I originally wanted, but got one with the 19" Rage wheels, Sat Nav and HFT and I'm in no way dissapointed. Definitely one of the nicest car's I've driven :)

Considering a Type R - Advice ?

Amongst other cars I am considering an early Mk1 Civic Type R (EP3 I think).

I am interested in people's opinions.

- are the mechanicals as bomb proof as rumours suggest ?
- how hard is the ride for pot-holed town driving ?
- Is it tiring keeping it in the power rev range (which I understand is quite high) ?
- Is it possible to find a good condition, sub 100k mile early car for under £2.5k or am I dreaming ?

Thanks

What do you mean by nice? I specifically got 18" wheels because the ride on 19" is even less 'nice' than those. Or do you mean generally.
