Type R and VTEC owners

Stormster - Have replied to your email.

I do trade and I only specialise in Type R's and they are definatly appreciating in price, not just the EP3's but the FN2's aswell. I've currently got a 53 PFL in silver and a 55 Premier Edition in black in stock but they are both higher mileage than what you are looking for :(

Really incredibly vague question, only looking for a sort of "ball park summary", but how much are Honda parts? In comparison to say, Ford parts and BMW parts, Ford and BMW being my benchmarks for reasonable and overpriced to repair. :p

I've heard that Honda engines are generally fairly bulletproof as well. How is the 1.8 VTEC lump in the FN2, and the 2.0 VTEC lump in the EP3 Type S?

Still dipping my toes in the water with various manufacturers in the hunt for my perfect new car... Have 30 items on my test drive list and have only worked through 3 so far! :p

Honda parts arn't too bad, definatly cheaper than BMW that's for sure. The 1.8 engine is meant to be pretty bullet proof, I've not ever heard of one with issues and same with the 2.0 in the Type S's.

Thanks. Christ choosing a new car is going ot be such a bore for me... My test drive list includes both a diesel Polo and a V8 A8, to give an idea.

I'd have to disagree with this tbh - the price for some Honda parts is nothing short of scandelous. As usual it's a bit random with some items being reasonable some funny money but I've found them to be at least on a par with BMW prices.

Servicing is relatively expensive if you want to maintain Honda history too(much more on a par with BMWthan ford etc)

Its even worse with bodywork type bits.

On the other side of that I had to buy very little for my diseasel civic and so far only a single relay for the fn2, but they aren't/weren't exactly old cars.

Honda service parts seem cheap (filters and the like), and some parts like bumpers for the 8th gen civic are pretty reasonable too. But some other prices are terrible...wheel centre caps for an 04 s2000, £40 quid each, front red 'H' badge for an FN2 type R.... £45!

It's like they deliberately keep prices low for things that impact on your average owner (service bits) or insurance rating (bumpers) but more unusual parts are fairly expensive. Less pattern or aftermarket oem equivalent parts around as well, compared to european brands, but this seems true of most japanese brands.

Was just looking at EP3 prices... they do seem to be getting quite rare, at least low mileage.

My old 03 pre facelift EP3 has only 45K, full Honda history and bog standard... hard pushed to find anything similar on autotrader

I'm only doing about 14miles b road miles a day, so it's kind of the perfect car for that so changing up to something else is not really worth it

EP3s rare? I still see more of them than any Focus or Golf :p

Wish I had your commute, mines a bit b road, but mainly boring routes with loads of traffic. Hence the BM for the week with Teg for Friday quiet work run and weekends.

Which diff have you gone for? I think you will rate this as your best mod thus far once you get used to it...and realise how much grip you can get. Combine with uprated rear ARB for maximum silliness.

nice civic type r near me, 2003 plated 112k miles. FSH, new clutch 10k miles back. Only after £2300 Very tempted indeed ( i was close to putting deposit on a hyundai coupe today too, bit different car!!) Just awaiting response my pm to the guy

Hyundai couple? Just get the Type R and forget you ever thought about buying a Hyundai :o

Always fancied a coupe and it's a fairly nice car to sit in with the leather interior. i test drove a 2l one and it felt about as quick as my 1.4 vw golf.
I've asked about the car to find out:
Standard or not - he advised he removed the rear wiper (presume i can get one fitted again) and the wheels have been refurbed in gun metal
Interior quality - he says its fine no tears or anything and electrics work inside
Any problems getting into 2nd - he said it doesn't he checked this before buying it
any pull in steering - which he said there isnt
Service History - all done at local non dealer garage matching the honda spec, just been serviced at just over 112k miles
Tyres - they're bridgestone all round with a good bit of life

And now the only bad point which although isn't major it may annoy me... He said the key fob won't lock the car remotly all the time. it will unlock it but not lock it. he has to use the key. Any ideas if its something electrical what kinda cost it would cost to sort out and if its something on the key fob what the general cost is for a new key? Paid £225 for a key for my VW :(

He's 10 miles or so away so thought i'd get all the questions in before taking it for a spin

Mfactory one man, so it's a helical 1 way diff.

Excited to see the difference, unsure when I'm gonna fit it though, maybe next month :p

I thought it was a worthwhile purchase with the SC happening.
